सातबारा उतारा म्हणजे जमिनीचा एक प्रकारचा आरसाचं. सातबारा हा उतारा वाचून प्रत्यक्ष जमिनीवर न जाता, त्या जमिनीचा संपूर्ण अंदाज आपल्याला बसल्या जागी मिळू शकतो. महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या महाराष्ट्र जमिन महसूल कायदा १९६६ अंतर्गत शेतजमिनींच्या हक्कांबाबत विविध नोंदी ठेवल्या जातात. यासाठी वेगवेगळी नोंदणीपुस्तके असतात(रजिस्टर बुक्स) या रजिस्टर मध्ये कुळांचे मालकी हक्क, शेतजमिनीचे हक्क, त्यातल्या पिकांचे हक्क यांचा समावेश असतो. या सर्वाची माहिती (७/१२)सातबारा उताऱ्यामध्ये असते.
